by Keziah Olsen, LASN

Thanks to the generous donors, CLASS Fund has exceeded its 2010 goal of $2 million in its endowment.

Just 15 years after meeting their original goal of $1 million, the California Landscape Architectural Student Scholarship (CLASS) Fund has surpassed its goal of curating an endowment fund of $2 million. At the time of writing, the fund held a principal of $2,014,151.

CLASS Fund continues its founding purpose of providing scholarships for landscape architecture students while also supporting the advancement of the profession through landscape architecture research grands administered through CELA (Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture).

The announcement was made on Monday, September 29, by Marty McPhee, Chairman of the Board and Executive Vice President of Park West Landscape. McPhee highlighted that the original goal set in 1980 took 30 years to achieve, making this milestone even more incredible given that it took half the time.

LASN has been a long-time supporter of CLASS Fund and was in attendance at the July 2025 Golf Tournament, when Managing Editor Aaron Schmok reported that the fund was just shy of reaching its goal.
