Cleveland Turner III, new CLARB president.


The Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB) held its 2007 annual meeting in Cleveland, Ohio, September 6-8 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Cleveland. Ballots were cast prior to the meeting for new officers representing CLARB.

The newly elected and continuing CLARB Board of Directors for 2007-2008 are:

President: Cleveland Turner III
Immediate Past President: James Figurski
President Elect: Dennis Wilkinson
Vice President: Temple Barry
Secretary: Ian Wasson
Treasurer: Denise Husband

Director, Region 1: James Rathmann
Director, Region 2: Dennis Mersky
Director, Region 3: Diane Steinbrueck
Director, Region 4: G. Robert Johns
Director, Region 5: Stephanie Landregan

The new CLARB president, Cleveland Turner III, resides in Amarillo, Texas. He is the principal of Turner LandArchitecture LLC. He holds a BSLA from Texas A & M University and licenses in Texas and New Mexico.

Chairman of the Texas Association of Landscape Architects from 2001 to 2004. He was the recipient of the Texas Chapter ASLA Distinguished Member Award in 1999 and 2005 He was appointed to the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners in 1989-1995 and 1995?EUR??,,????'???2001 by two governors.

Created in 1970, CLARB is a nonprofit international association whose members are the 49 U.S. states, one territory and two Canadian provinces that license landscape architects. Bob Van Hook is the interim executive director, Joel Albizo became the CLARB executive director in mid-July 2007, succeeding Robert Van Hook, CAE, who has been CLARB?EUR??,,????'???s interim executive director since Aug. 2006. CLARB’s mission is to foster the public health, safety and welfare related to the use and protection of the natural and built environment affected by the practice of landscape architecture.
