The Clean Air Awards recognize agencies throughout the Las Vegas Valley for programs, projects and technologies that directly or indirectly reduce air pollutants, are innovative, are replicable, and result in outcomes that are sustainable.
TreesHenderson was the top award winner in the Biological Pollution Reduction category. The program was recognized as contributing to a sustainable environment by promoting environmentally responsible filtering (capturing and sequestering air pollutants), thereby improving air quality in the community.
TreesHenderson is an urban forestry initiative and grassroots effort that includes educational components. The program invites residents to take a hands-on role in planting trees at city-organized planting events, under the guidance of volunteer Parks and Recreation Department team members, the department’s certified arborists, and volunteer Master Gardeners.
