Cincinnati Art Museum "Art Climb"

The primary goal of the Art Climb is to be an extension of the Cincinnati Art Museum into the landscape-an outdoor gallery for artwork in a variety of media. Additionally, it is meant to be a welcoming gesture to the residents from the adjacent neighborhoods to visit the museum and a space to encourage physical fitness. The Art Climb consists of monumental stairs leading to a series of terraces containing artwork and benches for relaxation. The forms of the stairs and walls were inspired by the limestone outcroppings found throughout the region. Special lighting creates a dynamic and artful nighttime experience.

The 2023 Lighting Issue of Landscape Architect and Specifier News saw many firms submit their projects for feature consideration. This project was not chosen for a Feature in the issue, but we at thought the project deserved to be showcased online . . .
