MILWAUKEE - The Construction Industry Manufacturers Association (CIMA) is urging lawmakers not to repeal or reduce the Federal gasoline tax.
CIMA asked legislators to address the energy production issues involved with the current increases in gas prices, calling repeal proposals politically motivated "quick-fixes."
"Cutting or repealing the Federal gas tax is a short-term solution that may not affect the price consumers pay at the pump and certainly won't address any of the real energy issues facing the country," explained CIMA Chairman Robert J. Fien, Chairman and CEO of Stone Construction Equipment, Inc. of Honeoye, New York.
