Mike Rieger, a fifth-year senior in landscape architecture, probably didn?EUR??,,????'???t expect his education would include being part of a chicken coop design team. However, he and five students and two faculty advisers from Kansas State University spent three weeks designing one for a Rose Hill, Kansas episode of ?EUR??,,????'??Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.?EUR??,,????'??
Rieger described the structure as a 12-by-12-foot coop with a slanted roof, incorporating structural insulated panels, i.e., foam insulation sandwiched between two layers of particle board. The chicken coop is valued at $5,000, but most of the materials were donated.
