Although the White House web site track the stimulus?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR? progress, Recovery.gov now has big competition. The Web site Recovery.org includes breakdowns of exact projects receiving stimulus money. Eric Gillespie, chief information officer of Onvia, the company that started the Recovery.org, says, ?EUR??,,????'?????<?As the government prepares to pour billions of dollars into the state and local economy, Onvia can help people zero in on the best opportunities for their companies. We send business their way ?EUR??,,????'?????<???(R) tell us what you need and receive it every day.?EUR??,,????'?????<?
Here are some examples LOL got from the site:
Also interesting to note is that the Environmental Protection Agency plans to spend more than $25 million to accelerate the cleanup at the Welsbach and General Gas Mantle Superfund site in Gloucester City, NJ. It?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?s one of 50 contaminated properties getting injections of cash totaling $600 million from the recovery funds. That?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?s more than double what the EPA usually spends on these projects each year. The EPA will track how many jobs are created here and at 49 other superfund sites that are in line to get stimulus dollars.
The privately run Recovery.org is actually providing detailed information about how the $787 billion in stimulus money is being spent. Although the Office of Management and Budget requires stimulus spending to be reported by primary and secondary recipients, in many cases, this means the reporting will stop short of the contractors and subcontractors that are hired to do the work since the work may not be assigned yet. Nor does the local authority, necessarily have to disclose what contractors were eventually hired. But the information is invaluable to everyone who might be able to participate in the many retrofit and rehabilitation projects that are now in the pipeline.
