Century's Best Wood AWPI Searches for Treated Wood Structure Designs FAIRFAX, VA The American Wood Preservers Institute (AWPI) is searching for the Deck of the Century, along with a host of other exceptional exterior structures incorporating preserved wood-- from docks to gazebos, from playgrounds to treehouses. Named the AWPI "Century's Best" Award, the competition recognizes good design, workmanship and innovation in outstanding gardens, parks, decks, playgrounds or other structures in which preserved wood is an essential component. "As we enter a new century," explained AWPI President and CEO Scott Ramminger, "it is a good time to appreciate the improvements in our lifestyle made possible by 20th century technology, especially those which make better use of our natural resources and opens up areas not accessible to many of us before." This competition invites entries from individuals or firms, builders, Landscape Architects, architects, contractors, and garden designers. Entry forms may be printed or downloaded from www.awpi.org or by calling 800-336-AWPI. All entries must be postmarked by August 2, 1999 to be eligible for consideration.
