The Parks Issue of Landscape Architect & Specifier News saw many firms submit their projects for feature consideration. This project was not chosen for a Feature in the issue, but we at LandscapeArchitect.com thought the project deserved to be showcased online . . .
Quality Court Industries, LLC (QCI) installed its renowned QCI PIP Playground Poured in Place Safety Surface on multiple playground areas totaling to almost thirteen thousand square feet at Center Circle Park in Sulphur, Louisiana designed by Landscape Architects at Duplantis Design Group.
QCI worked with the General Contractor in providing poured in place playground safety surface to accommodate various fall zones dictated by the Playground Equipment. QCI tapered the thicknesses of the poured in place safety surface by filling tapered depths of the subbase below the surface so there would be a flat uniform surface (i.e. no undulations). QCI also installed multiple unique color blends within adjacent pour patterns.
This is a unique characteristic for a poured in place surface as it allows for imaginative and visually stunning patterns and graphics. There was incredible excitement and long-standing anticipation within the community for this park as it was previously devasted by Hurricane Laura in 2020. The playground now provides certified fall protection that is special needs accessible, permeable, slip resistant, and looks amazing!
