Franklin Square, N.Y. residents are lobbying against a proposed cell phone tower by Omnipoint Communications. Homeowners say the proposed 65-ft. tower, about three times the height of the largest building in Franklin Square, would diminish home values.
Omnipoint must prove the tower is necessary for better service and the least intrusive alternative. Ron Lipsky, leader of the residents?EUR??,,????'??? group, has contacted a lawyer, a landscape architect and radio frequency engineer to buttress community opposition. The landscape architect could offer testimony on the aesthetic of the tower. A nearby community defeated installation of antennas on a water tower last year by hiring such experts.
