Las Vegas, Nevada has been on the rise with the design and construction of new resorts and casinos and with many other projects on the board or on the way. The most recent hotels and casinos that have gone up are the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino, the New York, New York Hotel and Casino, and the Stratosphere Tower and Casino. Las Vegas Sands Inc. is making way for a Venetian-themed project, while Mirage Resorts is constructing a project modeled after a northern Italian village. Other hotels and casinos in the making include projects from Hyatt Hotels Corporation (See LASN March 1997, "Hyatt Hotels Honored") and Carnival Hotels.

Firms like Lifescapes International, Inc., (See LASN July 1997, "Strip Tease") based out of California, report that after the year 2,000, there may not be anything left to build upon and the wave will be over. At this point research indicates there may be some time left for Landscape Architects to get involved...
