The Irrigation Association (IA) met with the California Department of Water Resources (CA DWR) in September to discuss important water initiatives, one of which directly affects landscape contractors - AB 1881.
As the '?N????e??20 by 2020'?N????e?? initiative mandates California water purveyors reduce water use by 20 percent by the year 2020 the IA, CA DWR, and the Association of California Water Agencies have pledged to work together to meet this goal.
Their objective is to help purveyors meet this mandate by encouraging the use of smart controllers and IA landscape best management practices, with incentives yet to be determined.
The CA DWR also expressed interest in re-drafting the AB 1881 ordinance to reduce the complexity of water planning requirements, and asked the IA for assistance in educating municipal governments about AB 1881.
