California Round-Up A busy time for the LATC Sacramento, CA The Landscape Architects Technical Committee in Sacramento, California, will make a significant addition to its web site in August. According to Gretchen Kjose of LATC, a licensee database will be put online this summer in order to enable users to easily verify someone's licensee status. The new move will benefit consumers who want to quickly confirm the credentials of a particular Landscape Architect. The LATC has also completed several other activities during the recent months. In May, the board elected David Tatsumi as Chair and Sandra Gonzales as Vice Chair for the organization. Additionally, the LATC mailed a publication called Firescape - Landscaping to Reduce Fire Hazards to all its licensees. The book was published by the East Bay Municipal Utilities District. Other publications available from the LATC include three new consumer guides covering areas specific to the residential consumer, the public sector, and private development. The LATC has also adapted a new exam format called the California Supplemental Examination. This take-home exam is given to Landscape Architect's after they've passed the L.A.R.E. exam, and is also available to reciprocity candidates. The CSE covers issues which are unique to the practice of landscape architecture in California. For more information on LATC, visit its web site at www.latc.dca.ca.gov
