Sierra Club report singles out good and bad development nationwide

Harvard, MA

The Sierra Club recently released "Smart Choices or Sprawling Growth: A 50 State Survey of Development."

The report finds that an increasing number of developers are building innovative smart-growth projects to combat sprawling growth. The report also says that too many developers and public officials are still feeding suburban sprawl.

"This report shows that we don't have to settle for sprawl. We have other options," said Dr. Robert Cox, the Sierra Club's President. "Creative developers and forward-thinking communities across the nation are demonstrating that smart-growth planning and development can help rebuild neglected downtowns, create affordable housing, protect open space and give Americans a choice in how they live, work and travel."

The report highlights the good and bad projects that are going on in all 50 states.
