Single-family authorizations in October were at a rate of 434,000.

Privately-owned housing units authorized by building permits in October were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 653,000. This is 10.9 percent (plus or minus 1.6 percent) above the revised September rate of 589,000 and is 17.7 percent (plus or minus 3.4 percent) above the October 2010 estimate of 555,000.
