The annual spring plant sale at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden takes place in the garden's Cherry Esplanade and benefits the garden's children's education programs.

The largest quality selection of plants in the metropolitan N.Y. City area, over 20,000 plants, will be on display in an area the size of two football fields at the annual spring Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s (BBG) Benefit Plant Sale. The members’ preview sale is May 2, 4:30 p.m to 8:00 p.m., followed by general sales days, May 3, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and May 4, 9 a.m. to noon.

The selection includes exotic tropicals, perennials, shrubs, trees, native plants, pre-bonsai, hanging plants, rare and unusual annuals, 37 varieties of clematis vine and 20 different kinds of hardy ferns.

BBG, founded in 1910, is on 52 acres in the heart of Brooklyn. It’s an independent nonprofit committed to education, research and displaying horticulture. The garden is home to over 10,000 types of plants and hosts more than 700,000 visitors each year.
