This missive was prompted when walking down Third Avenue in Belltown, Seattle and seeing that crews had stripped the upper layers of asphalt from the roadway for repair, exposing the former hardscape?EUR??,,????'??+red brick. ?EUR??,,????'??Why would anyone cover this red-brick road with asphalt??EUR??,,????'?? he wondered, all the while venturing to answer his own question: a case of ?EUR??,,????'??pragmatism versus idealism, cost versus beauty.
