Best of Show Award in California

The landscape work at this residence in Newport Beach, Calif., earned its contractor the top overall statewide prize for 2013 as well as recognition for its lighting.

The California Landscape Contractors Association recently announced that Richard Cohen Landscape & Construction Inc. took home the title as best of show in the state.

The Stuart J. Sperber Memorial Sweepstakes Trophy was given to the Orange County-based landscape company for work it performed at a private residence in Newport Beach. That project also earned the company a top landscape lighting award.

"To know that our project was considered the best out of all the beautiful entries in California is quite an honor," said company president Richard Cohen.

The awards are given annually by the CLCA, the only statewide trade organization of licensed landscape contractors and suppliers. Entries in the program are judged in person by a panel of landscape professionals from various regions in the state who inspect each nomination for the quality of workmanship and materials utilized. Each entry must adhere to industry standards and have properly shown an execution of detail in plant placement, turf conditions, functionality, efficiency of irrigation and overall presentation.

Richard Cohen Landscape was also recognized in August 2013 by the Orange County CLCA with a total of seven local awards, including a top Sweepstakes Award for best overall landscape.
