Belt Collins Wins Three Betty Crocker Landscape Awards

The Shriners Hospital for Children project in Honolulu was a complete redevelopment of the facility.

Belt Collins Hawaii took home three awards in the Professional Gardens category at Scenic Hawaii’s 2011 Betty Crocker Landscape Awards ceremony, June 27 at the Outrigger Canoe Club in Honolulu.

The design goal of the Kahala Hotel & Resort entry drive and porte cochere improvements project was to create a relaxing, boutique-style landscape through a complementary tropical plant palette.

Belt Collins received an Award of Honor for its work on the Shriners Hospital for Children in Honolulu, and two Awards of Appreciation for the Kahala Hotel & Resort entry drive/porte cochere improvements and for the LEED Platinum single-family residential project in Lanikai, Kailua, Oahu.

Founded in Honolulu in 1953, Belt Collins is a planning, design and consulting firm employing over 500 multidisciplinary professionals and support staff in 10 offices and eight countries and territories. The firm consistently ranks as one of the top 200 international design firms.

For the sustainable single-family private residence in Lanikai, the design concept was to create a home easy to live in and maintain, while remaining responsive to the island ecology.

This was the ninth annual Betty Crocker Landscape Awards. The sponsor, Scenic Hawaii, promotes and carries out programs to protect the islands’ natural beauty and protect Hawaii’s historical and cultural resources.
