Belt Collins Buys Shapins Associates

Honolulu-based Belt Collins beltcollins.com, a civil engineering, landscape architecture and environmental consulting firm has acquired the Colorado landscape architecture firm Shapins Associates shapins.com.

Shapins, founded in 1989 in Boulder, has 12 employees and handles 50 and 60 projects, according to Bill Bobzien, executive vice president. The firm offers a full range of planning, urban design and landscape architectural services.

Shapins how becomes Shapins Belt Collins, and one landscape architect from the Honolulu office will join the Colorado office team.

Belt Collins, founded in 1953, has more than 450 employees in nine offices around the Pacific rim, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Guam, the Philippines and, closer to home, Seattle.

The Engineering News-Record ranked Belt Collins #100 on its list of the top 200 international design firms. The Seattle office of Belt Collins was selected by Washington CEO, a monthly business magazine of Washington state, as the 15th best place to work in the state in 2007.
