BASF Professional Vegetation Management (ProVM) today announced it has partnered with The Conservation Fund?EUR??,,????'?????<SM program to help enhance wildlife habitat, create recreation areas and address climate protection by restoring native forests in protected areas across the United States.

The leading supplier of herbicides used in Southern pine forestry, BASF ProVM encourages forestland managers to adopt QVM principles and practices, which include striving for positive environmental change and applying herbicide responsibly, using the appropriate amount to achieve the desired results. BASF also supports sustainable forestry by offering reduced-rate products. The Fund worked with BASF to calculate and then offset the carbon footprint of the 2007 Sustainable Forestry Board Initiative annual conference. Critical support from BASF will help the Fund to restore timberland to offset the carbon used by conference attendees.

As a result of its carbon sequestration programs, The Conservation Fund has restored nearly 20,000 acres and planted more than 8 million trees that will capture an estimated 9.5 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent from the atmosphere over the next 100 years.
