Thankfully, we have been able to continue to provide valuable educational seminars and opportunities to acquire Professional Development Hours, albeit virtually. Perhaps unexpectedly, the shift to virtual has resulted in consistently greater attendance!

Our Executive Committee has been focusing on how we can be a resource for the nearby Student Chapter of ASLA (SCASLA) at Kansas State University. We convened for our annual joint meeting with SCASLA where we discussed ways we can better share our resources, network with one another, and build a stronger connection with students. We are excited to see how we can foster this relationship with our soon-to-be, young professionals.

Most recently, our Executive Committee was busy planning a virtual annual meeting and awards ceremony. Typically, our awards ceremony occurs in the spring, but we opted to delay the ceremony to the fall and combine it with our annual meeting. The meeting was a success and was well-attended by chapter members, sponsors, and the community who were associated with award-winning projects. We were fortunate to have Kona Gray, FASLA, principal at EDSA, as our keynote speaker. It was a great opportunity to hear from him as he shared what continues to inspires him.

Bob Harnett, FASLA, PLA was designated as an ASLA Fellow in 2020 given his 40+ years of public service and his dedication to the profession. He has been a continual advocate and was critical in getting a title law and practice law passed in Missouri. He currently serves as the deputy director of public works for the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri.

Stephanie Rolley, FASLA was awarded ASLA's Jot D. Carpenter Teaching Medal. She has served as the president of the Landscape Architecture Foundation and has also led the Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board. As the head of the Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional & Community Planning at Kansas State University, Stephanie continues to make significant contributions to the profession and its students.

Since last year's update, the Chapter held its annual Spare Time Bowling Challenge. Though a relatively new annual event, it has quickly caught on as a tradition with members and member firms. We look forward to the next time we'll be able to all get together!
