Profile: The New Hampshire Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects was established in 1988 as a non-profit, professional organization primarily comprised of Landscape Architects, affiliate professionals, and students dedicated to the Advancement of Landscape Architecture in New Hampshire. The profession covers a wide range of practices including site planning, residential development, commercial and institutional developments, municipal design, historic preservation/restoration, conservation, and much more.

 

We consider our last event to be a great success! The Twilight Meeting held August 15, 2019, featured an overview of the elements to be constructed that will make Mill City Park, Franklin, New Hampshire a destination. Recently awarded $512,000 from the Transportation Alternatives Program and an earlier grant of $200,000 from the Federal Land and Water Conservation Fund the park will help spur economic development in the Franklin and the region. Representatives from Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Senator Maggie Hassan's staff delivered words commending the Mill City Park Team and the Town of Franklin. Having supported the town's application for federal finds, Senator Shaheen praised their energy and vision of "turning back to the river for inspiration and resurgence with an innovative plan to revitalize their beautiful downtown." The event showcased the team's work to date and the design plans that will create the diverse white-water park with three white-water and one ocean surfer feature. It was interesting to learn that "for every two people in the water, eight more will come to watch". The potential economic impact that future events, at this first of its kind waterpark in the Northeast, will have on the town and region is encouraging. Aside from the water features, Mill City Park will feature many other amenities.
