The Florida Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects held its annual design awards jury May 31 and June 1 in Orlando. The chapter received 63 award submittals from Florida registered professionals and students for projects across the state and around the world. There were 32 professional design awards www.flasla.org/?page=AwardHome. Multiple firms won multiple awards: EDSA, Inc., Fort Lauderdale, received four awards: Award of Excellence (planning and analysis) for Lu????(R)?tica Bay in Radovici, Montenegro: landscape architect Douglas Smith. Award of Honor (open space) for Pompano Beach Streetscape and Dune Enhancement. Award of Merit (open space) for Smother's Park in Owensboro, Kentucky. Award of Merit (residential) for Mar Menor in Murcia, Spain.
AECOM Technical Services, Inc. was also a four-time winner: three for the Orlando group, and one for the Raleigh, North Carolina group: Award of Excellence (institutional) for Nemours Children's Hospital, Orlando. Award of Honor for Orlando Health Lake Beauty Park (open space), which also received the Environmental Sustainability Honor, Donald Wishart, landscape architect. Award of Honor (planning & analysis) to AECOM (Raleigh, N.C.) for Miami-Dade County Haulover Park programming plan. Award of Merit (planning & analysis) for Greenville, S.C., downtown streetscape design. Four firms won two awards: Foster Conant & Associates, Inc., Orlando Award of Honor (commercial) for West Bay Street Realignment in Nassau, Bahamas. Award of Merit (commercial) for Winter Garden Market Pavilion and Park, Winter Garden, Fla. studio JEFR??????, Orlando Award of Merit (conceptual) for National Missing Children's Memorial, Orlando. Award of Merit (institutional), along with Saenz Bury Engineering, Austin, for Unity Plaza, San Antonio.
