ASLA California, Northern Chapter

Northern California

We would like to congratulate the members elected to the ASLA NCC Executive Committee for the 2021-22 term! They will join 2021-22 President Siobhan Hussey and Past President Krista Van Hove, CCASLA Representative Ric Hendricks and Trustee Amy Cupples on the Executive Committee. The committee is entirely dependent on the volunteer efforts of members who are willing to donate their time and energy to making our chapter strong, vibrant and successful. While the Executive Committee are the leaders of our Chapter, it is important that you, our members, attend our events and get involved in volunteering as well. The chapter is only as strong as the members that participate and help us to develop into the chapter that represents you.

On September 19, 2021, Emmanuel Gomez, in partnership with @la_bodega_925 hosted @lashijasdelcampo, which is an event that provides laptops to high school age kids of local farmers. @wearelenovo generously donated 28 laptops for the event and organized a workshop that emphasized education and access to resources. The laptops will provide these high school students with an opportunity to learn various design programs, such as AutoCAD and the Adobe Suite programs, and encourage the students into professions like landscape architecture and related disciplines. Additionally, Las Hijas del Campo, invited guest speaker, Brentwood City Council member @jovita_brentwood_city_council, to speak about the struggles she faced and hurdler she overcame to get to her position. Additional speakers, who are members of Lenovo, called in from across country and outside of the US to deliver inspiring messages to the students. Each family that attended was provided with a meal, school supplies and a laptop. Gomez said, "It was a great honor to be part of this collaboration, and @la_bodega_925 looks forward to hosting many more events that make a difference."
