The American Society of Consulting Arborists has added another course to their online educational program, Soil Rehab and Protection: What's the Payback?

Attendees will learn from Dr. Susan Downing Day, who is an assistant professor and director of the Urban Horticulture Center at Virginia Tech. She gives frequent guest lectures on urban forestry and sustainable landscapes. She has also taught Urban Forestry & Arboriculture and Urban Forest Management and Policy. Dr. Day's research is dedicated to uncovering practical information that will improve tree health and canopy cover in urbanizing environments.

Discussion will include:

  • What are the issues for trees and people?
  • What do we lose when soil is degraded?
  • Protection is ideal, but what are our other options?
  • Soil replacement (just a brief note!)
  • Deep soil rehabilitation (the focus of this webinar)
  • What is the payback in terms of soil function and quality?
  • What is the payback in tree growth?
  • Soil Profile Rebuilding (a spec you can use--it goes deep!)

ASCA members can attend for $35 and non-members for $75. To purchase click here.
