The American Society of Landscape Architects has honored Ayers Saint Gross with two awards from two of its Mid-Atlantic chapters.
The firm’s research website Campus Kit of Parts (www.campuskitofparts.com), which was launched in January 2011, garnered the Traveling Award from the ASLA Maryland Chapter. This award singles out one project that “uniquely reflects and solves the most current issues in landscape architecture through innovative design excellence.”
The Campus Kit of Parts, created in conjunction with UXpertise, is an interactive website designed to assist colleges and universities in planning their campuses. It offers a menu of components such as quadrangles, gates, and paths to help institutions create a welcoming sense of place. The digital tool is based on the expertise developed by Ayers Saint Gross over three decades of campus planning and design. Currently, 85 percent of the firm's work is for academic and cultural institutions.
Ayers Saint Gross received a merit award from the ASLA Pennsylvania/Delaware Chapter for the project titled University of Scranton: Renewing a Campus and Sustaining a Community. The goal of this university landscape project is to connect the 58-acre campus to its surroundings through landscape and streetscape improvements. The plan defines campus gateways, creates a new residential quad, expands open space, and converts several streets to landscaped pedestrian-only routes.
Ayers Saint Gross Architects has offices in Baltimore, Tempe, Ariz., and Washington D.C.
