Arborjet has announced the launch of its inaugural "Taking Root" College Scholarship Program, which will help promising young students fulfill their dreams of entering careers in the arboriculture industry. Ten graduating high school seniors will each receive a $1,000 scholarship to pursue full-time studies in Forestry, Plant Sciences, Horticulture, Entomology, Environmental Science or a related major at an accredited two-year or four-year college. Career opportunities in the industry continue to grow, with the Bureau of Labor Statistics predicting 18 percent growth in the arboriculture field between now and 2018. Private companies, utilities, municipalities, universities and the federal government employ tree care industry professionals. As a leader in the care of America's urban and natural forests, Arborjet is committed to giving promising high school seniors the financial support they need to pursue this career path. "We hope to have parents, educators and the tree care community join us in encouraging young students to transform their ingenuity and passion into a career in this exciting industry," said Russ Davis, President and COO of Arborjet. "Through Arborjet's "Taking Root' Scholarship Program, we will recognize those dedicated students who have already demonstrated achievement in their schools and communities, and who plan to bring their skills and talents to our industry." To be eligible for the "Taking Root" Scholarship Program, applicants must be graduating U.S. high school seniors who plan to major in a forestry course of study or related major for the entire 2014 - 15 academic years.
