The APSP, a national organization that represents pool, hot tub, and spa manufacturers, has announced that nominations are being accepted for the 2014 Dr. Neil Lowry Memorial Grant.

The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals has announced that nominations are being accepted for the 2014 Dr. Neil Lowry Memorial Grant. The grant supports continuing education, technical, and operational activities of public health officials and departments to advance safer and healthier use of recreational water. Recreational water includes pools, spas, hot tubs, natural waters, and water parks.

The award is given in memory of Dr. Neil Lowry, a long-time member of APSP, who influenced the pool and spa industry for over 25 years as a consultant to government and private industry. Dr. Lowry contributed to the province of Ontario's regulations for public spas and designed the Canadian model labels for pool products that are regulated under the Pest Control Products Act. He was a native of Windsor, Ontario, and received a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Cornell University.

A sub-committee of the APSP Recreational Water Committee will select the award recipient. Judging will be based on the information presented on the application form. Candidates may be nominated by a third party or self-nominated. Nomination forms are available online at APSP.org/LowryAward. The deadline for submissions is June 6.
