APSP Announces New President & CEO

The APSP, an association that represents swimming pool, hot tub, and spa manufacturers, distributors, designers, builders, installers, and more, announces Richard Gottwald as new president and CEO.

The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals announces Richard Gottwald as new president and CEO, as well as a member of the board of directors. His leadership will take effect September 16th and will replace current APSP President and CEO William Weber.

Weber will continue in an advisory role to aid transition, but will retire in December after 8 years of service. In response to the announcement of new leadership, Weber said, "I look forward to working with Rich during this transition time and am committed to ensuring a smooth handover of the day-to-day management of the association."

Gottwald served as executive vice president of finance, administration and standards programs for the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation.

"We welcome Rich's fiscal management experience and leadership to APSP," said Steve Gorlin, APSP chairman of the board. "He has been a proven consensus builder in industries of similar size and scope to ours, and with his technical and regulatory background, he can take this pivotal role and energize and grow the industry. I believe that given the key changes over the past year with a new board of directors structure and a strategic management process, Rich has the traction and vision to strengthen APSP's leadership role in a very positive and inclusive way."

Gottwald holds a bachelor's degree in plastics engineering from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and holds a Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation. He is on the board of various charitable organizations in the Washington D.C. metro area.
