The American Planning Association (APA) has announced its ''2013 Great Places in America'' www.planning.org/greatplaces/spaces/2013. Under that rubric, the APA lists what it considers the ''Great Neighborhoods,'' ''Great Streets'' and ''Great Public Spaces,'' 10 locations for each category. As public space planning and design are significant sectors for landscape architects, you may be curious to know what U.S. public spaces made the list. The 10 sites are not ranked, just simply listed: Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, Anchorage Grand Park, Los Angeles Boardwalk, Hollywood, Florida Norman Leventhal Park, Boston Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge and Watertown, Mass. Forest Park, St. Louis Newark, New Jersey Essex County Branch Brook Park, Newark, N.J. Grand Central Terminal, NYC Walnut Street Bridge, Chattanooga, Tenn. Esther Short Park, Vancouver, Wash.
