Construction on the George W. Bush Presidential Center, 23 acres situated between the Southern Methodist University campus and the North Central Expressway, is expected to get underway in late 2010.
The project aims to earn platinum LEED certification, the top environmental design rating offered by the U.S. Green Building Council. Solar panels will supply all of the building?EUR??,,????'?????<????????????EUR??,,??s hot water needs and about 10 percent of it electrical requirements.
The center design intent is to blend in with the campus buildings, according to Jim Glassman, executive founding director of the George W. Bush Institute.
The architect for the project is Robert A.M. Stern Architects; Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates is the landscape architect.
