Anticipating the New George W. Bush Presidential Center




A view of the proposed George W. Bush Presidential Center from the southwest. The center will consist of three buildings: one for archives, three classrooms and a research room; one for the museum and restaurant; and a building to house the Institute and Foundation, including 25 offices, a seminar room and auditorium. Construction will probably begin in the fall of 2010 and be completed by spring 2013.

Construction on the George W. Bush Presidential Center, 23 acres situated between the Southern Methodist University campus and the North Central Expressway, is expected to get underway in late 2010.

The project aims to earn platinum LEED certification, the top environmental design rating offered by the U.S. Green Building Council. Solar panels will supply all of the building?EUR??,,????'?????<

The center design intent is to blend in with the campus buildings, according to Jim Glassman, executive founding director of the George W. Bush Institute.

The architect for the project is Robert A.M. Stern Architects; Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates is the landscape architect.
