According to the Washington State Department of Agriculture, several of the Mount Pleasant Elementary kids got sick from the insecticide, which had a label warning against exposure to people and clothing.

The district was ordered to pay $900 in fines and to notify parents each school year about pest control policies.

By law, state officials are required to notify anyone 48 hours before any pesticide is sprayed.

No serious injuries were reported.
