Washington, D.C.-The American Nursery & Landscape Association presented the 2004 Norman Jay Colman award to Dr. Gary Keever of Auburn University. The award is given annually for noteworthy nursery research.
Keever is active in community green industry committees. He is an associate editor of the Journal of Environmental Horticulture, and a member of the American Society for Horticultural Science, Azalea Society of America, Alabama Nurserymen's Association, and the Plant Growth Regulation Society of America.
Keever's research has resulted in hundreds of articles, including work with growth regulation of woody and herbaceous landscape plants, innovative approaches in the use of outdoor night-interrupted lighting to promote earlier flowering of herbaceous perennials and nontraditional uses of woody plants. He is also working to identify and promote superior azaleas.
