ALCA Student Career Days Finds Industry Talent

HERNDON, Va. - The Associated Landscape Contractors of America's (ALCA's) annual Student Career Days is touted as one of the top recruiting opportunities for the Green Industry. Often called the "Olympics of the Green Industry," Student Career Days attracts the largest gathering of the year of potential qualified recruits. The annual three-day competitive event brings together students enrolled in interior/exterior horticulture and landscape contracting programs at colleges and universities across the country. This year's event will be held Mar. 21-24 at Illinois Central College in East Peoria, Ill.

Landscape contracting firms and suppliers in the Green Industry are invited to participate in three ways:

1) Sponsor an Event

Sponsor one of the 21 competitive events that range from Personnel Management, Sales Presentation and Exterior/Interior Design to Irrigation Troubleshooting, Wood Construction, Equipment Operation, and much more. Major sponsorships are also available in Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze categories.

2) Participate in the Career Fair

Promote your company's employment opportunities with a display table at the Career Fair. Student recruiting efforts and interviews may be formally arranged at your company's booth space.

3) Attend Student Career Days as an Observer

See the students in action and take this opportunity to network on a casual level.

More than 700 students representing 48 schools participated in last year's program at Colorado State University. Each year, Student Career Days offers students from two-year and four-year colleges and universities the chance to take part in competitive events, network and interview for internships and prospective jobs.

An online resume posting and job openings listing service provided by Growcareer.com is another feature of this popular ALCA event. This service will provide the industry with even greater access to information about this talent-rich pool of prospective employees. Sponsors and Career Fair participants will have special pre-event access to this online information to review resumes and biographical information in order to match prospects to job openings and decide whom to interview.
