Acuity Brands Acquires Distech

When the city of Fountain, Colo., located 10 miles south of Colorado Springs, decided to retrofit the 100-watt high pressure sodium lighting along the tree and lawn-lined sidewalks and streets of Fountain City Hall, the choice was Holophane Utility Post Top LED Series luminaires.

Atlanta-based Acuity Brands https://www.acuitybrands.com has acquired Quebec-based Distech Controls, a maker of energy management and building controls, for approximately $252 million. Distech Controls provides building management technologies and services to optimize energy efficiency and comfort.

Acuity Brands provides indoor and outdoor applications, employs approximately 7,000 associates. The company had net sales of $2.4 billion in 2014, and a net income of $176 million. Distech Controls had revenue of more than $56 million in 2014.
