ACI Announces New Elected Officials

New President, Vice President, and Four Directors Elected

Antonio Nanni (left) was elected as President of the American Concrete Institute for 2023-2024. Maria Juenger (right) was elected as the Vice President.

The American Concrete Institute (ACI) has announced the election of new officials for 2023-2024. Antonio Nanni has been elected as the president, and Maria Juenger as the vice president for a two-year term. Nanni is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering at the University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL, USA. He has served on many ACI committees and has been recognized for his contributions with various awards. In his role as the president, he aims to work with other professionals to promote concrete technology, codes, and standards.

Maria Juenger is the L.B. (Preach) Meaders Professor of Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, USA, and her teaching and research focus on materials used in civil engineering applications.

Additionally, four members have been elected to serve on the ACI Board of Direction. According to Nanni, "The new leaders of ACI will work together to continue to drive progress in concrete materials, structures, and practices, with an eye towards improving sustainability and innovation across the industry." The election of these officials is likely to influence the landscape architects and engineers in the US as ACI works closely with these professionals to develop concrete standards and codes.
