A Moment of Silence for Robert C. Walkoe

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Robert C. Walkoe, 73, a landscape architect and former supervisor of Brookfield, Wisconsin, passed away Jan. 12, 2005 after open heart surgery at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee.

Mr. Walkoe received his degree in landscape architecture from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and founded 30 years ago Landscape Associates Inc., of Pewaukee. In 1999, he sold most of the business to his partners Michael Steinbauer and Scott Hartung, but remained active in the business. He also worked at McCay Nursery Co. for more than 45 years.

Mr. Steinbauer told the Journal the landscape architect was fond of ?EUR??,,????'??brick, native stone walls, rock gardens and waterfalls.?EUR??,,????'??

Mr. Walkoe was a past president of the Wisconsin Landscape Contractors Association, a former board member for the Wisconsin Landscape Federation, and a retired major in the Army Reserves. His activities included snorkeling and skiing.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; a daughter, Julie Lambert of Burbank, Calif.; two sons, Christopher of Waupaca and William of Brookfield; and grandchildren.
