The landscape industry lost a leader June 11, 2009 with the passing of Bill Goddard, President and founder of Goddard Construction Services. GCS is based in Sutter Creek, California. Goddard was an exceptionally creative man who not only envisioned but then installed exquisite landscapes that looked as if they had been there for a million years.
Winner of nine major awards including the most coveted landscape award in the nation two years in a row, the PLANET Grand Award in both 2007 and 2008, which is an unprecedented accomplishment, his living works of art include lakes where fish can spawn, 60-foot waterfalls, streams and springs that feed those lakes and dance around moss covered islands.
Bill Goddard truly enjoyed sharing his knowledge and his enthusiasm for combining beauty and nature. He gave seminars and lectures so others could create equally magnificent works of art out of the earth. This was a man who loved the planet, was an artist with plants, rock and water, and most important, was a man who went out of his way to take care of those around him, those he worked with and those he loved.
Goddard is survived by his wife, two children and his brother. He will be sorely missed by everyone?EUR??,,????'?????<??oeboth those who knew him personally and those who knew his work.
Landscape Contractor National profiled one of Bill Goddard?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?s premier projects, ?EUR??,,????'?????<?A Panorama of Waterfalls, Lakes and Streams,?EUR??,,????'?????<? for which GCS managed all aspects of this massive project, with the exception of the estate?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?s main house. They handled construction from the rough grade, irrigation, lighting, electrical, and finish grade, through hardscaping and plant design. With their own equipment and a staff of eight people, they were able to bring a level of functionality, naturalness and cost effectiveness to a complex and challenging project.
