A Jurassic Journey

In the midst of spectacular hype, Jurassic Park-- The Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood, a $100 million attraction, recently opened to a record number of daring crowds earlier this summer. The landscape architectural theme, a tropical habitat for a multitude of resident dinosaurs, was created by the award-winning Lifescapes International, Inc., and features approximately 12,000 trees, shrubs, vines and flowers-- including some prehistoric species!

Firm Principal and founder Donald Brinkerhoff designed the prehistoric pageantry utilizing a variety of tree ferns, bamboo and palms are dramatic signatures for the terrifying ride attraction. A nearby plaza, restaurant, retail shop and queing area (which has the hourly capacity to handle 3,000 guests!) are also available to the weary or less adventurous. Under the guidance of Project Manager Carol MacFarlane, Landscape Architects shaped the thrilling journey through the spine-tingling horrors of the Dinosaur Age-- one that visitors will surely never forget!
