Officials in Mississippi announced that Caterpillar Inc. is expanding operations in the northeastern town of Corinth, to the tune of $34.5 million in additional facilities.
Caterpillar, which already has remanufacturing operations in Corinth and Booneville, Miss., is adding an engine recycling facility and a warehousing and logistics operation expected to create 35 new jobs over the next three years, and add an additional 80 workers to the site via transfer.
The new ?EUR??,,????'??recycling?EUR??,,????'?? facility will receive old long-haul tractor-trailer engines, strip them down to purge old and damaged parts, and reconstruct the engines, giving the old machines a new lease on life that could add several years of usefulness.
Jumper Realty of Corinth is building the $27 million facility, and Caterpillar will invest $7.5 million in new equipment. Mississippi officials including Gov. Phil Bryant and Corinth Mayor Tommy Irwin were on hand for the announcement and ground-breaking ceremony at the site Thursday.
