Due to growing demand and interest, more than 2,000 golf course developers, owners, architects and superintendents gathered at the inaugural Pacific Rim Golf Course Conference and Show, which was held March 15-21, 1993 at the International Merchandise Mart (IMM) in Singapore.

This historic event was presented at the requests of golf officials, golf associations and GCSAA members from the region. Many golf course organizations such as the Golf Course Society of the Republic of China and the Malaysian Golf Association asked GCSAA to initiate training and education programs combining expertise from around the world for the benefit of the Pacific Rim golf course management industry. Both the GCSAA and Golf Course Architects from America enjoy good recognition and demand in the Pacific Rim. This increasing influence could provide opportunities for US landscape architects who aslo share a strong Pacific Rim rapport.
