Noted vocalist Jimmy Buffett is no longer "Wasting Away in Margaritaville"; he is on the warpath to save the East Indian Manatee, an endangered species in Florida. The Manatee (sea cow) is a docile creature that is often injured by careless power boaters. Buffett formed the Save the Manatee Club (and does free television promotions) but he is now fighting the Florida Audobon Society for authority.

The club boasts 30,000 members and now seems ready to come out from under Audobon's umbrella. Members of the latter group feel that only the preservation effort will suffer if a split occurs. However, Buffett seems adamant that control of power should rest with the club. Stay tuned for more reports from Margaritaville.
