''People can see exactly what they're getting, before they get it,'' said the company's owner.
The business partners realized the vitality of 3-D software and the products it could craft for their new flourishing business.
''We started using it every day and becoming an expert at it so we could build these 3-D designs quickly and efficiently,'' a company spokesman said.
The company works with both residential and commercial landscapes, and caters to homeowners and other contractors.
Once provided with property images, dimensions and potential designs, the company supplies customers with 3-D plans and a 3-D video animation of their landscape design. Using the program Virtual Property Architect by VisionScape and Photoshop, they design models to incorporate colors, rendering, materials and lifelike structures.
For those who are not used to working with 2-D models, this is an easier way for people to understand what their final product will look like.
''It's hard for most people to read a 2-D plan view,'' the company spokesman said. ''For most people it's just lines and texture.''
Through their website, the company is able to work with interested customers all over the country, serving clients from Massachusetts to California.
For those not in the Melrose vicinity, creating a 3-D design for a specific area requires a picture of the existing landscape and a 2-D plan, including measurements, which can be uploaded to the company website.
Although only in its second year, the company is doing very well.
