The president and CEO of the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association (ACTI), Meredith Attwell Baker, released a statement about communication infrastructure in which she emphasized the need for a new 5G spectrum policy in the U.S. Despite bipartisan support for more licensed spectrum, challenges in Congress and the lack of identified mid-band spectrum for future auctions are hindering progress. The forthcoming National Spectrum Strategy is deemed crucial to address the spectrum deficit, urging the identification of at least 1500 megahertz of government mid-band spectrum for future 5G use. Baker suggests that the strategy should also provide a global roadmap, ensuring the U.S. remains influential in the evolving global spectrum landscape.
