Summit of Softball Complex, Chattanooga, Tennessee

The softball complex has eight laser-graded adult softball fields with extensive landscaping, including planters, shade trees and custom site furnishings: entry signage, entry arches, railings, seat walls, shade structures, trash receptacles, and specialty paving in pedestrian areas. Elements are color-coded to help visitors navigate. The landscape architects prepared the master plan, led the multidisciplinary design team, were the primary client contact, prepared the preliminary grading plan for the site, prepared plans for all sports fields, landscape, and hardscape and had the lead role in providing construction phase services.

Exposed aggregate paving with concrete bands define the pedestrian promenade. Twelve large pin oaks were saved and transplanted on site. Cherokee Removal Memorial Park, Meigs County, Tennessee

Through interpretive exhibits and the historic significance of the memorial, BWSC's design goal was to evoke an emotional response. Landscape architectural design and hardscape design involved native plantings, wayfinding signage, memorial panels with Cherokee cultural elements; all meant to honor the Cherokees who were removed from the region in what is known as the Trail of Tears. The central feature is seven vertical granite panels arranged in a radial pattern and placed at the apex of a seven pointed star, leaving an open space at the center to symbolize a nation pulled apart from their homeland. The landscape architects prepared the master plan, led the multidisciplinary design team, were the primary client contact, prepared the preliminary site grading plan, prepared plans for landscapes and hardscapes, and had the lead role in providing construction phase services.

Torchbearer Plaza, Knoxville, Tennessee

As part of a beautification effort for the University of Tennessee Knoxville campus, BWSC transformed Torchbearer Plaza and Circle Park with new benches, trees lining the street, new trash receptacles, new retaining walls and pavers and new turf and irrigation
for the park. Wider, safer and ADA accessible sidewalks better accommodate pedestrian traffic to Neyland Stadium. The landscape architects prepared the master plan, led the multidisciplinary design team, were the primary client contact, prepared the preliminary grading site plan, the landscapes and hardscapes and had the lead role in providing construction phase services.
