2016 ASLA Design Awards

The ASLA 2016 Award of Excellence in the general design category went to PFS Studio for Underpass Park in Toronto, Ontario. The park, as its name indicates, is located beneath highway overpasses in downtown. This otherwise forgotten space was transformed into a public park. The park serves to link Corktown Common, River Square and the neighborhoods on both sides of the overpasses.

The ASLA Award of Excellence in the residential design category went to Design Workshop Inc. for DBX Ranch in Pitkin County, Colo. The site was a maintenance yard for a nearby working ranch. A collaboration of the landscape architect, architect and interior designer resulted in a modern ranch layout with interconnected outdoor gathering spaces and native plant communities. Stone and wood connect indoor and outdoor spaces.
