The influential 38-year career of John Loomis is recognized for significant contributions to the built realm, translating designs from the boards to reality, often strengthening a plan through subtle adjustments. A principal at SWA Group for 25 years, Loomis has worked extensively in Japan for more than 15 years on projects that include corporate and residential high-rises, themed entertainment attractions, institutional and medical campuses and retirement communities. He is currently turning his attention toward China. "Improving the quality level of built projects there," he observes, "is an exciting challenge." While he has garnered dozens of design awards, others point to his leadership, mentoring of young professionals and design collaboration with professional colleagues and service to the community.
