YMCA of the Rockies, Snow Mountain Ranch Granby, Colo.
Design Concepts guided the YMCA of the Rockies in creating a master plan for a family adventure park nestled in a mountainous landscape. Phase one will be completed in 2015 and includes Colorado's first one-of-a-kind summer tubing hill. The mountain ranch character is expressed in the plaza through design materials and ranch icons. An oversized lasso, horseshoes, cowboy boots, and other designs sandblasted into the paving and boulder seating and integrated into the design of the Pebbleflex® paving material enhance the visitor experience.
Casey Middle School, Boulder, Colo.
Design Concepts and RB+B Architects transformed the historic Casey Middle School redevelopment into a beautiful campus that exemplifies multiple principles of sustainability. As the first LEED Platinum school in Colorado, the building and site express the theme of ecology and nature, and their relationship to math, science and art. Sustainable design elements, such as a green roof, bioswales, reuse of materials, school gardens, underground parking and water efficient landscape materials, make this a showcase for sustainability principles.
