Course Description This presentation will explain the hydraulic principles of backflow and how it happens in a piping system. The various rules and requirements that sprinkler systems must comply with will be discussed, and various types of equipment to prevent backflow on sprinkler systems will be reviewed. Attendees will learn two hydraulic principles of backflow, backpressure and backsiphonage; the rules for the installation of internal and service protection backflow prevention; and the proper application and installation of backflow prevention devices and assemblies on sprinkler systems. Biography Jim Purzycki holds two Bachelor of Science degrees from California State University, Long Beach in Management and Finance. Jim spent the first 10 years of his career working as a backflow assembly tester and repair technician. The last 30 years he has served as Manager of BAVCO. In his duties he has provided training and education in the development, implementation and running of Cross Connection Control Programs across the United States.
